Paula taking care of business on HBO's GETTING ON.
Mark V. Olsen and Will Scheffer are geniuses and gentlemen. This show was an extraordinary treat to work on in so many ways. The whole crew and cast were in sync and it was always a delight to see what magic would arise during a scene because of everybody's open and loving vision - which we all know comes from the top down. I look forward to seeing what Olsen and Scheffer cook up next. And I'm sure you do too. If you haven't seen GETTING ON, it's available to stream and is filled with great writing, a great cast and phenomenal guest stars, the tireless and exquisite Betty Buckley for one, who has become a good friend of mine - such a hardworking and loving artist. The the show was cast by the magnificent duo of Junie Lowry-Johnson and Libby Goldstein. I could go on about GETTING ON, but alas, I must stop for now.
Joy is not happy. BETTER THINGS.
With Siobhan Fallon Hogan in her film SHELTER IN SOLITUDE
Joy performs her haiku. BETTER THINGS.
What a fun scene this was. A little poem had been written for Joy to perform from her zine. I crafted my own handmade ZINE with the poem and photos and brought it to set. Pamela loved it and said I could use it for the scene. I made it yellow so it would match the fabulous wardrobe by Mynka Draper and Julie Heath, who always surprised me with great outfits for Joy.

Look how happy and eager the cast looks! Mark and Will, welcoming the cast with love and inspiration, as always. One of the sets mantras was, "You are enough." Hence the authentic performances.
Having some fun with Niecy Nash on GETTING ON.

Laurie Metcalf as my sister in HILDY HILDY.
Laurie appeared in a couple of episodes of HILDY HILDY, after watching the show a number of times. What a treat to work with, as you can imagine. And when I got cast in GETTING ON, I was thrilled to be working with Laurie again.
